Spray-Painted Glass

Today I spray painted candle glassware that was left over from a wedding.
Chrome spray paint + mixture of vinegar and water + glass

Then I decided to add Copper to the mix, and spray painted some leaves from my yard

Also added Gold and now they're on display in our living room.

At first I was following this tutorial with the Chrome paint, but it wasn't turning out the same as using Looking Glass paint....so I just went over the whole thing with Copper (which is why it has a different texture than the Chrome or Gold ones).   Anyway, it was an easy, quick, and nice-looking project!

Thread Bowl

I found an easy way to make a cute decorative bowl from elisabeth andree.  All you need is thread! (Assuming that you have flour, sugar, and water at your convenience).  Her bowl looks like this:

colorful squigglies!

However, I decided to make a striped pattern by putting plastic wrap on a flared lipped bowl, and covering it with gluey thread.
looks like a hat...

original + new

After a day of drying, I carefully removed the plastic wrap from the bowl and it easily came off the hardened thread.  If I get around to it, I could technically do the same thing and make a straw hat....

Recipe for the paste:
Mix 1/4 cup flour and 1 cup of cold water in a bowl.  Boil 1 cup of water and add the flour/cold water mixture.  Bring to boil again.  Remove from heat and add 1 tablespoon of sugar.  Let cool for about half an hour.

Then just dip your thread into the paste and wrap around your plastic-wrapped bowl!

I think I'm gonna stick (pun intended?) with the squiggly pattern next time.

The most delicious oatmeal I have ever had.

Tastes so good after coming back from an early morning workout.
1/4 cup steel cut oats
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1 scoop vanilla whey protein
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 banana
1/2 apple, pear, or peach

-Mix oats, water, milk, and thinly sliced banana in saucepan over medium-high heat.
-Stir occasionally for 4 minutes, add 1/4 cup additional water and lower heat, stir 4 more minutes.
-Turn off heat. Add yogurt, whey protein, vanilla extract. Mix well.
-Throw in additional fruit, nuts, cinnamon, get creative.

voilà!

It's so creamy. I topped mine with more cinnamon, bananas, and apples this morning. I definitely prefer steel cut oats, and not rolled oats, because the texture is so much more appealing.  Only takes 10-15 minutes.

First day of Autumn. I realized that, although I'd love to live in 70° Bay Area weather, there's something special about having four distinct seasons. I get this feeling, nostalgia or déjà vu, perhaps, that means time keeps running and turning over.  Certain feelings are seasonal.  If I'm stuck in a constant state of sunshine then I'll forget that these feelings exist.  Most of the time, I love feeling something that I had once forgotten. The best type of remembering.

Walked past the stationary aisle in Walmart the other day and had an urge to buy new pens and notebooks.

Mason Jar Mug

How adorable is this?? Saw it at Pottery Barn and knew I wanted it right away.

I'm drinking jasmine tea...how appropriate, no?

Free People

I like going to the mall with ideas of what I want. Otherwise I wander around-lost, confused, picky, uninterested (life, anyone?). This is why Free People will give me ideas before I venture out today.

Polka dotted boho top: $108
Jenoah floppy brim hat: $78

FP Skinny cords: $68

High plains boots: $328

In conclusion, wanted: polka dots, floppy hat, corduroy pants, tall brown boots. However I will not be spending $600.

Let's get this started

I'll make this short since I plan on waking up for a 6am workout session tomorrow....I heard this song on the radio today and hope that they stop playing it. It's my song.  I kept playing it over and over again in the Spring and I have some sentimental attachments to it. The music video adds such intenseness and heart-melting moments, amplifies the song 10x.

Also, since my mind isn't working, I typed in "youtube" in the youtube search box when I was already on the site, and for some reason "poop" is the most frequently used word after this search of youtube on youtube.

+1 for humanity.
